Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Iranian President Dr. Masoud Peshkeshian during the SCO summit in Tianjin. The two leaders agreed to deepen political and economic ties. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief General Asim Munir, and senior ministers also joined the meeting. Shehbaz stressed the need for peace, dialogue, and cooperation in the region.

Both leaders praised the shared history and cultural connection between Pakistan and Iran. Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace. He expressed solidarity with the Iranian people. In return, President Peshkeshian thanked Pakistan for its consistent support. He pledged to enhance ties in trade, energy, and other sectors.

President Peshkeshian also offered condolences for the lives lost in Pakistan’s recent floods. He assured full support from Iran during this difficult time. The leaders expressed satisfaction with the current direction of bilateral cooperation. They agreed to expand it further in the coming months.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also met several world leaders on the summit’s sidelines. He held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Other meetings included the presidents of Belarus, Azerbaijan, and informal exchanges with Turkey, Tajikistan, and others. His visit drew praise from various leaders, showing Pakistan’s strong global ties.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan gave Shehbaz a warm welcome. Officials say this reflects the strength of Pakistan-China relations. Overall, the SCO summit highlighted Pakistan’s growing diplomatic influence and regional cooperation goals.
