A strong low-pressure system has formed over India’s Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. It is now pushing monsoon winds into Sindh. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said rains are expected from today until September 10. These rains will mainly affect eastern Sindh districts.
According to the PMD, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, and Khairpur will likely receive heavy rainfall in the coming days. Other districts, including Shaheed Benazirabad, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, and Jamshoro, may also face strong winds with showers. This system is expected to bring widespread rainfall across much of Sindh.
Furthermore, rainfall is likely in Larkana, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Sukkur, Jacobabad, and Ghotki due to the Indian system’s influence. The PMD has confirmed that Karachi will start receiving heavy rain from tomorrow evening. These spells are expected to continue until September 11. Residents are advised to remain cautious during this period.
The PMD has warned of possible urban flooding in Karachi and other major cities. Waterlogging is likely in low-lying areas due to continuous rain. Farmers have been asked to adjust their agricultural activities according to the weather forecast. Authorities have also been alerted to take precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, flood conditions are worsening at Guddu, Sukkur, and Kotri barrages. Low-level flooding is ongoing, and a very high flood is expected at Guddu on September 7. Rising water levels in the Indus River may further worsen the situation. The PMD continues to monitor the system closely.
