PM Shehbaz orders swift action on Karachi floods

Published on: September 10, 2025 9:21 PM

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of severe urban flooding in Karachi and directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to fully cooperate with the Sindh government in relief operations.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the prime minister praised the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and Rescue 1122 for their active role in assisting flood-affected residents and providing timely rescue services across the city.

Expressing grief over citizens who drowned in the Gadap River, Shehbaz Sharif instructed relevant agencies to immediately locate and rescue people reported missing due to the ongoing floods in Karachi and nearby areas.

He emphasized the importance of public awareness campaigns, urging authorities to inform citizens about the evolving flood situation so they can take precautions and avoid further risks to life and property.

The prime minister also called for quick measures to restore damaged communication and transport infrastructure, ensuring that essential services can reach flood-affected communities without delays or interruptions.

Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that federal and Sindh governments are fully mobilized and working together, with relief and rehabilitation for affected families in Karachi being treated as a top priority to minimize human suffering.
