Islamabad schools enforce strict ban on corporal punishment

Published on: September 11, 2025 10:17 PM

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has officially banned corporal punishment in all schools and colleges across Islamabad, warning that strict action will follow any violations. The decision aims to protect students from physical and emotional harm while promoting a safe learning environment. Officials emphasized that zero tolerance will be maintained in all federal educational institutions.

A formal letter was sent to the heads of every school and college in Islamabad, reminding them that corporal punishment in any form is strictly prohibited. The directive comes after multiple complaints and reports, especially from boys’ schools, highlighting the need for immediate enforcement. Authorities stressed that the ban must be implemented without delay or exception.

Every educational institution has been instructed to form an action committee to ensure compliance with the ban. Schools and colleges are required to submit proof of committee formation by September 13. The committees will monitor disciplinary practices and ensure that teachers and staff follow the zero-tolerance policy effectively.

The FDE warned that any violation of the ban will result in legal action and fines. Heads of institutions were reminded that tolerance for corporal punishment no longer exists, and strict accountability measures will be enforced without leniency. This is part of a broader effort to protect children’s rights in federal schools.

Officials also highlighted that the new policy aims to create a positive learning atmosphere. By removing physical punishment, students can focus on studies and personal growth. Schools are encouraged to adopt alternative disciplinary methods that are constructive and supportive rather than harmful.

Overall, the FDE’s directive represents a significant step toward safer and more responsible education in Islamabad. Educational institutions are now expected to fully comply, ensuring students can learn in a secure and respectful environment without fear of physical punishment.
