UK, US enter ‘golden age of nuclear energy’, says British PM

Published on: September 15, 2025 3:58 PM

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced a major shift in energy policy. He said the UK and US are building a “golden age of nuclear energy.” The move comes as both nations prepare to sign a major nuclear deal. The agreement is expected during US President Donald Trump’s official visit this week. It marks a new chapter in transatlantic energy cooperation.

According to British media, the deal aims to rapidly advance nuclear energy development. The focus will be on boosting clean power production and long-term energy security. The agreement could unlock billions of pounds in private investment. This will help modernize nuclear infrastructure in both countries. It also reflects growing global interest in nuclear as a climate solution.

The UK government expects the deal to create thousands of new jobs. Many roles will be in engineering, science, and energy sectors. Officials say it will also strengthen the UK’s energy independence. Britain hopes to rely less on fossil fuels and imports. The long-term plan includes cleaner, cheaper, and more reliable energy.

Additionally, the increased use of nuclear power could lower household energy bills. Starmer said affordable energy is a key government goal. He believes this deal will support struggling families. More nuclear power also helps reduce carbon emissions. This aligns with Britain’s climate goals for 2030 and beyond.

In conclusion, the UK-US nuclear deal represents a major strategic partnership. It promises economic growth, energy stability, and climate progress. Both nations see it as a vital step for the future. As talks advance this week, global attention remains on this landmark agreement. The “golden age” of nuclear energy may soon begin.
