Shehbaz, Pezeshkian unite to counter Israeli threat

Published on: September 16, 2025 4:24 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the Arab-Islamic Emergency Summit in Doha. The two leaders discussed growing regional tensions and emphasized the urgent need for unity among Muslim countries in response to Israeli aggression. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar also joined the meeting.

Both leaders expressed solidarity with Qatar, which recently faced Israeli missile attacks. They condemned the strikes as a violation of international law and a threat to regional stability. PM Shehbaz said the summit had sent a clear and united message from the Muslim world: Israeli aggression will no longer be tolerated. He praised the strength of Pakistan-Iran ties and called for deeper cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

PM Shehbaz also conveyed his respect and best wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In return, President Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s consistent support for the Palestinian cause. He expressed Iran’s commitment to strengthening relations with Pakistan and continuing close coordination on regional matters. Both sides agreed that joint efforts were essential in today’s volatile environment.

The leaders discussed the rapidly changing regional landscape and agreed to stay in close contact. They warned that silence on Israeli actions would only encourage further destabilization. Both nations expressed their readiness to work with other Muslim countries for a collective, strategic response. The meeting highlighted a growing momentum for pan-Islamic unity in the face of common threats.

Earlier, PM Shehbaz also held bilateral meetings with leaders from Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. All leaders condemned Israel’s actions in Qatar and discussed the worsening humanitarian situation in Palestine. They also explored ways to strengthen regional cooperation and protect the sovereignty of Muslim nations. PM Shehbaz’s series of high-level engagements reflected Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic role in the evolving Middle East crisis.
