The City School, ICDL sign MoU to champion digital literacy

Published on: September 21, 2025 3:45 AM

Guided by the visionary leadership of Dr. Farzana, Group Chairperson, The City School has taken a defining step towards shaping the future of education by signing a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICDL Asia, the world leader in digital skills certification. The agreement was formalised through ICDL Asia’s authorised partner, CPD Consultants Pakistan, at the QBR Board Room, The City School Head Office, Lahore.

The partnership marks a major stride in The City School’s mission to empower learners and professionals with international digital competencies, reinforcing its reputation as a forward-looking institution committed to excellence, innovation, and sustainability.

The International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) certification is the global standard in digital literacy, recognised in over 100 countries and delivered through more than 20,000 accredited testing centres. With modules ranging from computer essentials to online collaboration, data management, content creation, and cybersecurity, ICDL equips learners with internationally benchmarked, future-ready skills essential for success in today’s digital economy.

Under this collaboration, The City School will integrate ICDL certifications into its academic and professional development frameworks, enabling its faculty, staff, and learners to gain international-standard skills that enhance employability, global competence, and competitiveness.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Farzana, Group Chairperson; Dr. Dania Qazi, Director of Academics (TSS/TRES/SNC); Mrs. Maryum Imran, Director of Studies; and Mr. Shahzad Muhammad Khan, Chief Operating Officer. Representing ICDL through CPD Consultants Pakistan were Mr. Jehan Zada, Chief Executive Officer; Ms. Hadeel Shah, Chief Operating Officer, and Mr. Tanveer Shakir, Business Development Manager.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Dania Qazi, Director of Academics, highlighted the academic impact:

“Digital literacy is no longer optional – it is foundational to education and professional success. Through ICDL, we are embedding a culture of innovation and global competence that will inspire our students, empower our staff, and set new benchmarks in Pakistan’s education landscape.”

Ms. Tina Wu, CEO, ICDL Asia, shared ICDL’s commitment:

“We are proud to collaborate with The City School, an institution that shares our vision of raising digital literacy standards. Together, we will ensure seamless implementation and internationally benchmarked outcomes for their community.”

This collaboration also reflects The City School’s alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly in bridging the digital divide and expanding equitable access to technology-driven learning.

By partnering with ICDL Asia, The City School reaffirms its mission of excellence, global competence, and sustainable growth – translating Dr. Farzana’s vision into action and preparing generations to thrive in the digital age.
