Maryam Nawaz emphasised that providing high-quality transport facilities across Punjab remains a key priority for her administration. She announced that thirty modern electric buses have been allocated for Sahiwal, with a nominal fare of just Rs20 for regular passengers. Persons with disabilities, women, senior citizens, and students will be able to travel free of charge. This approach, she explained, seeks to make public transport affordable and dignified for all communities, especially vulnerable groups.
She further highlighted that the buses are equipped with modern amenities such as charging ports and Wi-Fi facilities to ensure passenger convenience. Maryam stated that women will now be able to travel with dignity and safety, a step forward in empowering women across Punjab. Introducing electric buses in smaller cities, she added, will also contribute to environmentally friendly transport solutions while improving the overall quality of life for local residents.
During her speech, Maryam Nawaz remarked that signs of progress from Nawaz Sharif’s era could still be seen across the country. She underscored her government’s determination to build on that legacy through innovative projects like the electric bus service. The chief minister reaffirmed that the Punjab government remains committed to addressing the needs of its citizens by combining social welfare efforts, such as flood relief, with sustainable development initiatives.
