Ishaq Dar rallies global leaders, champions regional peace at UNGA

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, met several global leaders during the 80th UN General Assembly session in New York. He discussed regional developments and strengthened bilateral ties. These meetings highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to peace, cooperation, and international diplomacy. Dar emphasized Pakistan’s role as a responsible global partner. His engagements reflected a focused approach to foreign policy.

First, Dar met the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi. They agreed to expand cooperation in key sectors. Dar stressed the importance of stronger institutional ties between Pakistan and GCC countries. Both sides showed interest in increasing collaboration. The meeting ended with a shared vision for future initiatives.

Later, Dar held a meeting with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa. They discussed regional peace and mutual interests. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Syrian people. He pledged to deepen the historic friendship between the two nations. The leaders agreed to work closely on diplomatic matters.

In another meeting, Dar spoke with Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand. They reviewed their growing bilateral relationship. Both countries expressed satisfaction with their economic and trade ties. They agreed to explore new opportunities for cooperation. The meeting showed a mutual desire to build stronger economic partnerships.

Finally, Dar raised the issue of Palestine on social media and at a high-level international conference. He urged all countries to recognize Palestine under international law. He reminded the world that Pakistan recognized Palestine in 1988. Dar welcomed recent recognitions by the UK, Canada, Australia, and Portugal. He said this move supports lasting peace in the Middle East.
