The protest by Azad Kashmir Public Action Committee prompted Shehbaz to form a negotiating committee. Several sessions were held with committee members. Eventually, a written agreement was signed late at night.

Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal called the negotiations a victory for Azad Kashmir, Pakistan, and democracy. The Public Action Committee thanked Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their special interest. They also stated this was an internal matter and rejected any foreign interference.
