Pakistan to vaccinate 45M kids against polio

Published on: October 6, 2025 6:13 PM

Pakistan will launch a nationwide anti-polio campaign from October 13 to 19, 2025. The campaign aims to vaccinate more than 45 million children under five years old. The National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) confirmed that this massive effort will help protect children from the deadly virus. In addition to polio drops, children will also receive vitamin A supplements to boost their immunity.

Over 400,000 trained polio workers will take part in the campaign across the country. These workers will go door-to-door, visit schools, and set up camps in public areas. Their goal is to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated. The EOC stressed the importance of timely vaccination in stopping polio and protecting children’s futures.

According to the plan, Punjab will vaccinate over 23 million children. Sindh will cover around 10.6 million, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa aims to reach 7.2 million. Balochistan will vaccinate over 2.6 million children during the same period. These numbers show the large scale of the campaign and the government’s commitment to ending polio.

In other regions, Islamabad will vaccinate around 460,000 children. Azad Jammu and Kashmir will reach more than 760,000 children, and Gilgit-Baltistan will vaccinate about 280,000. This coordinated effort will cover all parts of the country, including urban and remote areas. Officials have urged full public cooperation to make the drive a success.

Finally, the EOC asked parents to welcome vaccination teams and ensure their children receive the polio drops. They also advised families to complete the full schedule of vaccines to protect children from all preventable diseases. With strong teamwork and public support, Pakistan hopes to move closer to a polio-free future.
