PTI activist Falak Javed sent to jail on 14-day judicial remand

Published on: October 11, 2025 2:44 PM

LAHORE: A city magistrate sent PTI activist Falak Javed to jail on a 14-day judicial remand on Friday. The remand covers two separate cases related to alleged misuse of social media against state institutions and a woman provincial minister. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) produced Falak before the magistrate, who reviewed case files carefully before issuing the order. This legal step marks a significant development in ongoing investigations against political activists.

Meanwhile, an antiterrorism court allowed police to interrogate Falak while she remains in jail. This interrogation relates to attacks and vandalism outside Zaman Park. Authorities believe she played a role in those incidents. Falak was arrested by the NCCIA in Islamabad earlier this week. These cases highlight increased scrutiny of social media activities and public disturbances linked to political protests.

Falak’s sister, Sanam Javed, was also recently arrested in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She has been shifted to Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore. Sanam is serving a sentence connected to the May 9 riots case. The arrests of both sisters indicate a broader crackdown on PTI activists involved in controversial protests. The government appears determined to enforce law and order amid rising political tensions.

This judicial action reflects the state’s strict stance on social media misuse and public disorder. Officials are investigating Falak’s role while collecting more evidence. The courts will review further developments as the cases progress. Meanwhile, police continue to monitor activities around political protests closely. The coming weeks will likely see more legal proceedings related to these cases.

In summary, Falak Javed’s judicial remand sends a strong message to political activists. The government emphasizes accountability for actions against state institutions. Both social media misuse and vandalism remain key concerns for law enforcement. These events underline ongoing political challenges in Pakistan’s current climate. Authorities vow to maintain order and uphold justice as investigations continue.
