A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh’s Minister for Planning, Development, and Irrigation, Jam Khan Shoro, to review progress on schools, water filtration plants, industrial projects, the K-IV and KB Feeder canals, roads, and other development schemes.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Planning & Development Syed Najam Ahmed Shah, Irrigation Secretary Zarif Iqbal Khero, Industries Secretary Yaseen Shar Baloch, Works & Services Secretary Zahid Abbasi, Education Secretary, Forest Secretary, and Deputy Commissioners from the concerned districts.

Irrigation Secretary Zarif Iqbal Khero gave a detailed briefing on the lining of the Makhi Farash Canal, small dams, K-IV, and KB Feeder Canal.

Jam Khan Shoro directed that one to two officers be appointed in Islamabad at the federal level to ensure effective monitoring of Sindh’s development projects.

Education Secretary Zahid Hussain Abbasi briefed that 100% of the funds-amounting to Rs. 9.3 billion-have been released for educational projects, all of which are scheduled for completion by June 30, 2026. He also presented a detailed report on the construction progress of 401 schools.

Minister Jam Khan Shoro instructed that a third-party survey be conducted to assess the construction materials and quality of all completed schools to ensure a minimum durability of 40 years.

Industries Secretary Muhammad Yaseen Shar Baloch stated that road and other infrastructure development in the SITE area has been planned with expert engineering consultation, and testing will be supervised by specialists from NED University. He also recommended that the Chief Minister of Sindh visit these projects.

The Works & Services Secretary provided a briefing on road projects under the federal PSDP, upon which the provincial minister instructed that a separate meeting be convened soon to discuss these in detail.

The Forest Secretary updated the meeting on the progress of the water filtration plant project, which the provincial minister directed to be completed on a priority basis.

According to the spokesperson, Deputy Commissioners from Tharparkar and other districts also briefed the meeting on development projects in their respective areas.

Minister Jam Khan Shoro affirmed that the Sindh government is committed to improving education, health, and road infrastructure. A new policy has been formulated to ensure transparent monitoring and timely completion of ongoing projects. He emphasized that no compromise will be made on the quality of projects, and any negligence or failure in a scheme will result in the responsible officer being held accountable.

Jam Khan Shoro further stated that party leadership and the Chief Minister of Sindh regularly receive briefings on the progress of development schemes.
