MIAMI: Golf superstar Tiger Woods has revealed that he underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery in his lower back after suffering from pain and limited movement.
The 15-time major champion said the operation took place on Friday in New York, performed by Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi, and was successful.
“After experiencing pain and lack of mobility in my back, I had scans that showed a collapsed disc and a compromised spinal canal,” Woods said. “I decided to have my disc replaced, and I already know it was the right choice.”

No timeline has been given for Woods’s return to professional golf. The 48-year-old has battled several injuries and surgeries in recent years, including a serious car crash in 2021 and a ruptured Achilles tendon earlier this year.
The latest setback means Woods will miss his Hero World Challenge event in the Bahamas and could also be doubtful for his TGL tech-golf league, starting in January.
Woods shares the record of 82 PGA Tour wins with Sam Snead and remains three majors short of Jack Nicklaus’s all-time record of 18.
