China backs Pakistan-Afghanistan ceasefire, urges lasting peace

China has voiced support for the 48-hour ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry urged both countries to exercise restraint and work toward lasting peace. The statement came after Islamabad and Kabul agreed to a short-term truce aimed at reducing tensions along their border.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said China encourages both sides to maintain calm and avoid further escalation. He emphasized that regional stability benefits all neighboring countries. According to him, dialogue and cooperation are essential for resolving disputes peacefully.

The spokesperson added that China supports efforts promoting mutual trust and long-term security. He reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to assisting peace initiatives in South Asia. Lin noted that China has long valued its friendly ties with both Pakistan and Afghanistan.

China has played a key diplomatic role in promoting stability in the region. Over the years, it has encouraged dialogue between neighboring countries facing security and border challenges. Its stance reflects Beijing’s broader interest in maintaining peace and development under its Belt and Road vision.

Lin Jian concluded that China is ready to play a constructive role in improving relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said Beijing will continue supporting regional peace and cooperation. The statement highlights China’s growing diplomatic engagement in promoting dialogue among its neighboring nations.
