Sarwat accuses Humayun Saeed and Nadeem Baig of misconduct

Published on: October 17, 2025 12:11 AM

Renowned Pakistani actress Sarwat Gilani has opened up about her unpleasant experiences working with superstar Humayun Saeed and director Nadeem Baig, alleging unprofessional behavior and lack of respect during the making of the Jawani Phir Nahi Aani film series.

In a recent interview, Sarwat Gilani revealed that she was not treated well during the production of the first two Jawani Phir Nahi Aani films. She said that despite contributing to the success of the series, she was ignored and only contacted when the filmmakers needed her.

The actress claimed that her role in the first film was cut short without prior notice. When the second part was announced, she initially refused to participate due to her previous experience but agreed after director Nadeem Baig assured her that her character would have a complete arc. According to Gilani, that promise was not fulfilled. “Unfortunately, my role was again reduced in Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2 and I wasn’t treated well during its promotions either,” she said.

She added that she was left out of the film’s London promotional tour despite booking her own tickets. “The schedule wasn’t even shared with me. I found out later that the entire team had already left,” Gilani revealed.

Expressing disappointment, Gilani said the filmmakers only reached out when they needed her as an actress and ignored her once the projects were complete. “They don’t even remember me after the release,” she remarked, emphasising that she no longer wishes to tolerate such behaviour.

The actress made it clear that despite being approached again for the third installment, she has decided not to participate. “I cannot let my dignity be compromised anymore. I want equal respect and a rightful place for my character,” she said firmly. While she expressed regret over her treatment, Sarwat Gilani clarified that she still holds respect for both Humayun Saeed and Nadeem Baig. “I still meet them with respect, but I will not be part of Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 3. I’ve learned my lesson,” she stated. The first Jawani Phir Nahi Aani was released in 2015, followed by its sequel in 2018. Both films were major box-office hits and featured an ensemble cast including Humayun Saeed, Vasay Chaudhry and Ahmad Ali Butt.

Sarwat Gilani played the memorable role of a Pathan woman married to Vasay Chaudhry’s character, a pairing praised for its humour and chemistry. However, her recent revelations have cast a shadow over the much-anticipated third part of the series.
