KARACHI – A consumer court in Karachi has issued a notice to Mondo Coffee Bar, a café located in DHA Phase-VIII, after a complaint claimed it was illegally using the name and logo of a Thailand-based coffee brand.

The court has summoned the café’s management to appear on October 31 to respond to the allegations.

The complaint was filed by Syed Muhammad Ali Jafri, who said he visited the café believing it was part of Thailand’s Mondo Espresso & Tea Bar. He later discovered through social media that the local café allegedly had no connection with the original brand and was using its name and design without permission.

According to the complaint, the café’s cups, bags, and tissue papers also carried a logo that looked almost identical to the Thai brand’s trademark.

The plaintiff’s lawyer, Abdul Ahad Khan, argued that this act violated the Sindh Consumer Protection Act, 2015, and amounted to false and deceptive marketing.

The consumer has demanded Rs5 million in damages, claiming that the café misled customers and provided faulty and deceptive services.

The court will hear the case on October 31.
