Rune, Medvedev, and Auger-Aliassime Advance to Semifinals Across Europe and Asia

Holger Rune rallies to advance to semis in Stockholm

Nordic Open (Stockholm)

Top-seeded Holger Rune battled past Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semifinals. The Danish star, chasing his second Stockholm title after winning in 2022, hit 12 aces and won 83% of his first serves despite needing a medical timeout for his thigh. Next up: Rune faces Ugo Humbert, who beat Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego 6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-3. Second seed Casper Ruud also advanced, defeating Sebastian Korda 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4. He awaits the winner between Denis Shapovalov and Elias Ymer.

Almaty Open (Kazakhstan)

Russia’s Daniil Medvedev continued his strong comeback, beating Fabian Marozsan 7-5, 6-2 to reach his third straight semifinal. He’ll play Australian qualifier James Duckworth, who upset Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 6-2. The other semifinal features Alex Michelsen vs. Corentin Moutet, after both players scored impressive wins.

European Open (Brussels)

Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime cruised into the semifinals with a 6-2, 7-6 (6) victory over American Eliot Spizzirri, hitting 11 aces and winning 82% of first serves. He’ll meet Belgium’s Raphael Collignon, who defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6 (5), 6-1. In the other semi, France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard faces Jiri Lehecka of Czechia after Perricard knocked out top seed Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 7-6 (8).

With the ATP season winding down, stars like Rune, Medvedev, and Auger-Aliassime are hitting form at just the right time.
