Two Women Killed in Separate Karachi Incidents Amid Rising Traffic Tragedies

Published on: October 19, 2025 11:29 AM

Two women were killed in separate incidents in Karachi on Saturday, highlighting the city’s growing concerns over road safety and urban violence.

In the first incident, a trailer ran over a motorcycle near Labour Square in Baldia Town, killing a woman and injuring a man. Police said both victims worked for the same company and were heading home. The driver fled the scene, though the trailer has been seized and a search is underway for the suspect.

In another tragic event, a woman was shot dead during a scuffle in Korangi No. 1. Police said she was caught in the crossfire outside her house. An inquiry has been launched to identify and arrest those responsible.

The incidents come amid a worrying rise in traffic fatalities in Karachi, where over 546 people have died and 8,136 have been injured in road accidents this year. Heavy vehicles such as trailers, tankers, and dumpers were involved in many of these deadly collisions.

Authorities have called for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and better road safety measures to prevent further loss of life.
