Published on: October 26, 2025 1:16 AM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday chaired a meeting to review the progress on the Air Punjab project and directed the authorities concerned to ensure its early operationalisation.

The chief minister approved the flight route of Air Punjab from Lahore to Islamabad under the first phase of the project and instructed the departments concerned to expedite completion of all formalities. She also directed that modern, comfortable aircraft be acquired on lease for the airline to ensure quality service and passenger convenience.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also reviewed the Murree Glass Train project and issued directions to take all necessary measures for its swift completion.

She emphasized that both projects hold significant importance in promoting tourism and improving intercity connectivity in Punjab, and must be implemented with high standards and efficiency.

Separately, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of nine lives in separate road accidents in Kamalia and Gujranwala.

The chief minister extended heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families, praying for the departed souls and courage for their loved ones to bear the irreparable losses.

She expressed deep sorrow over the death of four members of the same family in Kamalia and five persons in a truck-van collision in Gujranwala.
