Water tanker hits motorcycle in Karachi, family injured

Published on: October 27, 2025 10:45 AM

KARACHI — A water tanker collided with a motorcycle on Shahrah-e-Quaideen on Monday, leaving a husband, wife, and their child injured in yet another road accident involving heavy traffic in Karachi, police said.

According to police reports, the family was riding on the motorcycle when the speeding tanker struck them. The collision sparked outrage among bystanders, who set the tanker ablaze shortly after the crash. The injured victims were quickly shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment, officials confirmed.

SSP East said that police reached the scene promptly, managed to control the fire, and launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are determining the cause of the crash and whether negligence was involved.

Traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles continue to claim lives across Karachi. Official data shows that at least 546 people were killed and over 8,100 injured in road accidents during the first seven months of this year. Of these fatalities, 165 involved heavy vehicles — with trailers, water tankers, dumpers, and buses being the main culprits.

Officials have called for stricter traffic law enforcement and improved road safety measures to reduce the alarming number of fatal accidents in the city.
