Govt hikes petrol, diesel prices amid global oil fluctuations

Published on: November 1, 2025 9:25 AM

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced an increase in petrol and diesel prices, effective from November 1 to November 15, 2025, according to an official notification issued on Thursday.

As per the notification, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs2.43 per litre, setting the new rate at Rs265.45 per litre. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel (HSD) has seen an increase of Rs3.02 per litre, taking its revised price to Rs278.44 per litre.

Officials stated that the revision was made in response to recent fluctuations in global oil markets. The adjustment, they said, aims to align local fuel prices with international trends while ensuring fair cost distribution among consumers. The government also urged citizens to stay updated on fuel price changes and plan their consumption accordingly.

The notification explained that these price changes are part of regular fortnightly reviews designed to stabilize domestic fuel pricing and mitigate the impact of international oil volatility on Pakistan’s economy.

According to data acquired by ARY News, Pakistani consumers are paying significant taxes and levies on petroleum products. For petrol, taxes and duties amount to Rs101.49 per litre, including a petroleum development levy (PDL) of Rs75.52 and a newly introduced climate levy of Rs2.50 per litre. Diesel carries a total tax burden of Rs95.74 per litre, with a PDL of Rs74.51 and similar levies.
