ISLAMABAD – The process to resume direct flights between Pakistan and the United States has entered its final phase, with a delegation from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) scheduled to visit Pakistan in January 2026.
According to official sources, the FAA team will conduct a detailed audit of several Pakistani airports to evaluate aviation safety, infrastructure, and operational standards. The results of this audit will determine whether Pakistan qualifies for the resumption of direct air operations to the US.

This development follows an earlier FAA visit in September 2025, during which the delegation expressed optimism about Pakistan’s progress in meeting international aviation standards. Officials believe the upcoming inspection will help clear the final procedural hurdles to restoring direct Pakistan–US flights, which have remained suspended for several years.
