UK army chief meets Pakistan COAS to discuss defence cooperation

UK army chief pays tribute to martyrs during visit to Pakistan Army headquarters
RAWALPINDI: General Sir Charles Roland Vincent Walker, Chief of the General Staff of the United Kingdom Army, met with Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at Pakistan’s General Headquarters on Thursday.

The military leaders discussed regional security dynamics and explored opportunities to deepen bilateral defence cooperation. Both sides emphasized sustained collaboration to promote peace and stability in South Asia.

The discussions highlighted the importance of strategic communication and coordination between the two armies to address emerging security challenges. Both nations reaffirmed that military-to-military engagement is key to fostering mutual understanding and regional stability.

General Walker acknowledged Pakistan Army’s contributions to global peacekeeping and counterterrorism operations. He praised the sacrifices of Pakistani forces in maintaining regional security and lauded their dedication to combating terrorism.

Upon arrival at GHQ, the UK Chief laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada in honour of Pakistan’s martyrs and was presented with a guard of honour. The visit reinforced the longstanding partnership between the Pakistan and United Kingdom armed forces and underscored their commitment to continued defence dialogue.
