Shehbaz Sharif, Iranian speaker discuss peace and Muslim unity

PM Shehbaz emphasizes Pakistan-Iran cooperation for global peace and Muslim unity

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan and Iran’s shared commitment to global peace and the unity of the Muslim Ummah during a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who visited Islamabad with a delegation.

The Prime Minister warmly welcomed the delegation, highlighting the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and Iran. He reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to resolving international disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, while conveying his highest regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pazeshkian.

Shehbaz Sharif noted that Pakistan and Iran strongly condemn state-sponsored terrorism and stressed their shared dedication to promoting regional peace, prosperity, and positive cooperation. He also expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to strengthen collaboration in economic development and bilateral trade.

Speaker Ghalibaf thanked Pakistan for its support during the recent Iran-Israel conflict, particularly the 12-day war, and praised the strong cooperation between the parliaments of both countries. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to enhancing bilateral economic and trade relations while underscoring the importance of Muslim Ummah unity and global peace.

The Iranian delegation conveyed warm regards from President Pazeshkian and appreciated Pakistan’s hospitality. The meeting was attended by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi.
