Laila’s mom wins hearts in Jama Taqseem

Published on: November 7, 2025 3:07 PM

Laila’s mom has won everyone’s hearts in drama Jama Taqseem by standing up for her daughter

The Jama Taqseem fandom is rallying behind Laila’s mother, Zoobia, after episodes 17 and 18 showcased her courage in standing up for her daughter against her in-laws’ relentless rudeness. Viewers have hailed her as the real hero of the drama, praising her for speaking out against the patriarchal attitudes on full display.

the concept of Qais’ mother fretting over the idea of Qais serving his in-laws but reinforcing the idea that a daughter in law must serve her in-laws. The double standards are insaneee#jamataqseem pic.twitter.com/w5ZpBzYsgd

The plot has taken an unexpected twist — with Laila (Mawra Hocane), Qais (Talha Chahour), and both sets of parents now living under the same roof. This living arrangement has fueled major clashes between Laila’s liberal parents and Qais’ conservative ones, played by Deepak Perwani and Tazeen Hussain versus Javed Sheikh and Beo Raana Zafar, respectively.

One particular dinner table scene left viewers furious, as Qais’ parents told Laila’s that they had overstayed their welcome, arguing that a daughter-in-law’s duty is to her in-laws, not her own parents. When Laila’s mother asked what parents without sons should do, Qais’ mother coldly replied, “Sabr karein” — or have patience. Fans were quick to point out the irony, since Qais’ own mother had been cared for by her daughter after her sons left.

Social media erupted with criticism of Qais’ passive behavior, especially after he told Laila to skip her job interview to appease his parents. Many fans branded him a “walking red flag,” calling the storyline a cautionary tale about marrying without considering family dynamics.

Let’s NORMALIZE defending your daughter in front of the ridiculous demands of in-laws. Let’s NORMALIZE supporting your daughter in the face of their baseless vitriol. Let’s NORMALIZE upholding your daughter’s dignity and rights. Thank you #JamaTaqseem

While the episodes left audiences frustrated by the toxic double standards, Zoobia’s fiery defense of her daughter gave viewers something to cheer for. Fans are hoping the drama doesn’t end in a forced “happily ever after” — and that Laila finds the strength to choose herself over societal pressure.
