ICC confirms venues for 2026 T-20 World Cup

Published on: November 8, 2025 12:27 AM

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially approved the venues for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, confirming that matches will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

According to Indian media reports, the final is scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad. However, in the event that Pakistan qualifies for the final, the championship match will instead take place in Sri Lanka.

Sources indicate that a total of eight venues have been finalised – five in India and three in Sri Lanka. The Indian cities selected to host matches include Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai. In Sri Lanka, two venues in Colombo and one in Kandy have been approved.

The 2026 edition will feature 20 teams, following the same format as the previous tournament. Teams will be divided into four groups of five. The top two sides from each group will progress to the Super Eight stage, from which the semi-finalists will be determined.

This will mark another major ICC event in South Asia, with both India and Sri Lanka preparing to host international teams amid strong anticipation from fans across the region. The 2026 T20 World Cup promises to be one of the largest editions yet, uniting two cricket-loving nations for the global showpiece.
