Pakistan thrash Kuwait to lift Hong Kong Sixes 2025 trophy
HONG KONG – Pakistan put on a spectacular all-round performance to defeat Kuwait by 44 runs and lift the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 title at Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok, on Sunday. Batting first, Pakistan started aggressively with opener Abdul Samad smashing a six off the second delivery, while Khawaja Nafay joined the attack to help pile up 26 runs in the opening over.

Kuwait struck back briefly when Meet Bhavsar removed Nafay for 22, but Pakistan captain Abbas Afridi and Samad revived the innings. Afridi’s explosive 52 off just 11 balls, combined with Samad’s 42 off 13, propelled Pakistan to a formidable 136. Maaz Sadaqat and Shahid Aziz also contributed crucial runs to set a challenging target.

Chasing 137, Kuwait began with an aggressive start, highlighted by Adnan Idrees’ quick 32, but Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Maaz Sadaqat and Mohammad Shahzad, struck back decisively. Sadaqat took three wickets, nearly completing a hat-trick, while Abdul Samad claimed the final wicket, restricting Kuwait to 92 in just six overs.

The comprehensive 44-run victory highlighted Pakistan’s balance of explosive batting and clinical bowling, earning them the championship trophy. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi praised the team’s performance, calling it a “fantastic display of skill, passion, and teamwork” that showcased Pakistan’s cricketing spirit.
