No evidence found: Interpol drops case against PTI’s Moonis Elahi

Published on: November 15, 2025 4:59 PM

PTI leader Mian Moonis Elahi received a major relief after Interpol closed a two-year investigation against him. Pakistani authorities had sought his extradition over alleged murder, fraud, and abuse of power. Interpol, however, found no evidence of wrongdoing and removed him from the international alert list.

Sources said the complaints were thoroughly reviewed, but Mian Moonis Elahi, currently residing in Barcelona, was not linked to any criminal activity. The closure ends a long-standing probe that had caused significant concern for the PTI leader. Legal experts termed it a significant victory for him.

Moonis Elahi’s lawyer confirmed that his client received a clean chit, calling it “a triumph of justice.” He added that Pakistani authorities had unnecessarily pressured Moonis Elahi through fabricated cases. The lawyer also emphasized his client’s commitment to principles and loyalty to PTI founder Imran Khan.

The investigation closure marks a notable development for PTI, which has faced multiple legal and political challenges in recent years. Political analysts say this outcome may strengthen Moonis Elahi’s position within the party.

Interpol’s decision highlights the importance of due process and international cooperation in evaluating criminal allegations. Sources noted that Mian Moonis Elahi can now travel freely without fear of arrest or international restrictions.
