JF-17 sale boosts Pakistan’s defense exports at Dubai Airshow

Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder emerged as a star attraction at the Dubai Airshow 2025, earning international acclaim. Pakistan signed a memorandum of understanding with a friendly country for the sale of the fighter jet, boosting its global defense profile. The exact number of aircraft and the country’s name were not disclosed.

The JF-17 Block III and Super Mushshak trainer aircraft drew major attention for their modern avionics, increased maneuverability, and enhanced weapons systems. Defense analysts and air show attendees highlighted the jet’s cost efficiency, versatility, and operational capabilities, reinforcing Pakistan’s reputation in aerospace innovation.

Several other nations expressed strong interest in acquiring the JF-17, reflecting confidence in Pakistan’s aviation industry. In 2024, Azerbaijan signed a $4.6 billion deal to purchase the JF-17 Block III, marking a significant milestone in defense exports.

Pakistan Air Force Chief Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu held high-level meetings with UAE military leadership, covering joint exercises, professional exchanges, and aerospace collaboration. The UAE praised PAF’s professionalism and technological progress, signaling potential long-term strategic partnerships.

The JF-17 Thunder, co-developed by Pakistan and China, serves as a backbone of the PAF fleet. Its multi-role design, low operational cost, and advanced systems make it an attractive option for countries seeking affordable yet capable fighter jets. The Dubai Airshow further solidified Pakistan’s growing global defense stature.
