Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari responded to Sohail Afridi’s letter to CM Maryam Nawaz, saying he should study the law himself. She stated that CM Nawaz does not interfere in jail visits or the work of government officials. Bukhari highlighted that Afridi cannot lecture others on legal matters without understanding the rules.
She added that weekly meetings with PTI founder Imran Khan and his family follow legal procedures, with 420 lawyer meetings and 189 family meetings conducted so far. Bukhari noted that political meetings are not allowed in jails, and the superintendent has final authority over visits.

The minister emphasized that meetings for families, such as Bushra Bibi’s, are separate, and public gatherings are still held weekly outside prisons. She criticized Afridi for holding rallies with convicted criminals on May 9 and intimidating government officials.
Bukhari urged Afridi to focus on studying legal procedures rather than questioning the CM’s lawful actions. She stressed adherence to jail rules ensures fairness and order.
