Russia shoots down 93 Ukrainian drones overnight

Published on: November 24, 2025 4:20 PM

Russia’s defence ministry said on Monday that its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 93 Ukrainian drones overnight. The strikes took place across four regions, including the border Belgorod region. Moscow reported that 45 drones were downed over Belgorod alone, with the rest over the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

The ministry stated that the air defence operations successfully prevented any significant damage to Russian territory. Officials did not report any casualties from the drone attacks. The incident highlights ongoing tensions along the Russia–Ukraine border.

This comes amid continuing drone and missile exchanges between the two countries. Ukrainian forces have frequently launched drone attacks on Russian border regions and strategic sites. Russia continues to emphasize its air defence readiness.

Experts note that drone warfare is increasingly shaping the conflict, with both sides relying on unmanned aerial systems for reconnaissance and attacks. Russia claims its systems are effectively countering Ukrainian drones.

The overnight interceptions are the latest in a series of escalating cross-border attacks. Both nations remain on high alert as the drone campaign continues. Observers warn that such clashes risk further intensifying the conflict.
