The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a high alert for severe fog and smog across Punjab. Lahore and several plain districts are expected to experience low visibility and poor air quality. Authorities have ordered strict enforcement of anti-pollution measures.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia warned that districts including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Faisalabad, and Multan face intense smog. Visibility may drop sharply, increasing the risk of traffic accidents. Officials have urged citizens to avoid outdoor activities during peak hours and use protective masks.

The PDMA has directed district administrations to fully implement anti-smog regulations. Action will be taken against factories and vehicles emitting excessive smoke. Burning of crop residues, plastic, tires, and other waste materials is strictly prohibited, and violators will face legal consequences.
Meteorological officials report no rainfall or snowfall is expected in Punjab or northern areas through November and December. Dry winter conditions are worsening air pollution and water scarcity, creating additional public health and environmental challenges.
