Punjab CM launches school meal programme for special children

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited Maryam Nawaz Center of Excellence for Special Education Students in Shalimar Town, Lahore, and launched the CM School Meal Program for Special Education Students by ringing the lunchtime bell. She also inaugurated Maryam Nawaz Center of Excellence for Special Education Students in Lahore, and gave cash prizes to Special Olympians Ali Raza, Shah Galu Hayat and Blind Cricketer Shahzeb.

Chief Minister Punjab expressed her affection for the special children, and presented them milk packs and biscuits. A special girl also fed biscuits to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif out of love, and said, “You are very sweet.” Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif wrote some words on the whiteboard in the classroom, to which children answered correctly. She sat with the visually impaired children and observed them reading through Braille. A little special hero Anas took a picture with her and Special Assistant Sania Ashiq. She expressed a deep interest in the handicrafts and paintings made by special children. A special girl presented her a framed picture.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also visited ECE classroom, physical activity room, speech and language therapy room and PD classroom specially set up for visually and hearing impaired children. She also inspected the smart classroom, computer lab and expressed happiness over getting jobs for 08 special children. A special child presented Chief Minister a letterhead designed by her own hand. Chief Minister Punjab sat among special children at the ceremony and herself brought forward a child sitting in a wheelchair. Special children raised slogans of Pakistan Zindabad in sign language. Special Assistant on Special Education Sania Ashiq gave a detailed briefing about the Center of Excellence project and said that Maryam Nawaz Centers of Excellence for Special Education Students have been established in 28 districts of Punjab, and more than 6000 special children have got new admissions in Punjab. She briefed that as per vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, special education centers are being revamped.

Separately, Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities concerned to take strict action against usurpers who are robbing rights of helpless widows. She also directed them to adopt quick measures to resolve on priority basis possession cases of helpless widows, besides submitting a daily report in this regard.

Chief Minister Punjab directed for the full implementation of Ordinance 2025 and said that Deputy Commissioners of all districts should hold daily DRC meetings which she would personally monitor. She was briefed by the authorities concerned that announcements would be made in mosques to apprise public of immediate government measures against illegal occupation in Punjab. She also directed Assistant Commissioners in every tehsil to receive applications regarding occupation, and expressed her displeasure over lack of early decisions in occupation cases in Gujrat, Layyah, Hafizabad and other districts. Relevant authorities also apprised her that 2919 applications against illegal occupation were received across Punjab in 03 weeks, out of which 499 cases have been resolved by the District Dispute Resolution Committees.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that she wants to provide immediate relief to public by resolving illegal occupation cases quickly. All Deputy Commissioners should hold daily meetings on illegal occupation cases, she will monitor them herself.
