Rising prices push Pakistan’s weekly inflation up 0.73%

Published on: November 28, 2025 10:30 PM

Pakistan’s national weekly inflation rose by 0.73%, while annual inflation reached 4.32%, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported. Prices of essential commodities, including moong dal, ghee, cooking oil, and powdered milk, increased across the country.

Sugar prices in various cities ranged between Rs179 and Rs220 per kilogram. Other items that became costlier included jaggery, beef, electricity, LPG, cigarettes, and firewood. The report also noted electricity tariffs for low-income consumers rose by more than 11%.

During the past week, prices of 14 essential commodities increased, 12 items decreased, and 25 goods remained stable. Tomatoes fell by 28%, onions by 10%, and potatoes by 4.58%. Salt, chana dal, garlic, eggs, and flour also became cheaper.

PBS officials said fluctuations reflect market dynamics and supply-demand factors. Rising energy and commodity costs contributed to inflationary pressures, while seasonal harvests helped reduce prices of some vegetables.

Analysts warn that inflation trends will continue to affect household budgets. They advise consumers to monitor price changes and government authorities to ensure supply stability for essential goods.
