ISLAMABAD – Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty arrived in Pakistan on Saturday for an official two-day visit, the Foreign Office (FO) announced. The visit comes at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

The FO said the visit reflects the “longstanding and cordial relations between Pakistan and Egypt, grounded in common faith, cultural affinity, and shared perspectives on regional and international issues.” Abdelatty’s meetings are expected to strengthen the strategic trajectory of Pakistan–Egypt ties across political, economic, defence, cultural, and people-to-people spheres.

During his stay, Abdelatty will hold a tête-à-tête meeting and delegation-level talks with his Pakistani counterpart. Both sides will review the full range of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international developments, including the ongoing situation in Gaza, the FO said.

The visit follows a series of high-level interactions between the two countries. In May, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s desire to strengthen bilateral ties during a phone call with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In October, PM Shehbaz and FM Dar participated in a peace summit on Gaza in Sharm el-Sheikh and witnessed the signing of a ceasefire agreement.

Later in October, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Egypt, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to enhanced defence and military cooperation. The FO noted that Abdelatty’s visit is expected to reinforce Pakistan–Egypt cooperation and further advance the long-standing partnership between the two brotherly nations.

Analysts say the visit underscores both countries’ intent to broaden bilateral engagement, with a focus on regional stability, defence collaboration, and cultural and economic exchange.
