The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, on Friday criticized incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan for spreading “anti-army” narratives, calling them a growing national security threat.
Speaking at a press conference in Rawalpindi, Lt Gen Chaudhry described the situation as a “creeping national security threat” that the military must address due to its potential impact on the country’s stability.

He claimed that Imran Khan’s rhetoric stems from a “delusional mindset,” where personal ego and frustrations override the interests of the state, creating narratives that go beyond politics into national security concerns.
Lt Gen Chaudhry emphasized the military’s media wing’s role in clarifying facts, removing ambiguities, and ensuring the public understands how such narratives could be manipulated, including possible collusion with external actors.

The DG ISPR warned that the influence of these narratives is significant, urging citizens to critically assess information and highlighting the importance of protecting Pakistan’s institutional integrity from destabilizing rhetoric.
He concluded by stating that while it may seem unusual for the military to comment publicly, addressing these narratives is essential for national security and public awareness in the current environment.
