Maryam Nawaz bans loudspeakers, enforces one-dish at events

Published on: December 6, 2025 2:16 PM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered strict enforcement of loudspeaker regulations and the “one-dish” rule at weddings and events. She instructed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to monitor compliance across the province. Authorities were directed to prevent excessive noise and ensure legal action against violators.

CM Maryam highlighted unauthorized loudspeaker use during Qawwali nights, marriage halls, and farmhouses as a major concern. She emphasized that officials failing to comply will be barred from attending wedding ceremonies, reinforcing accountability. The crackdown aims to control noise pollution and ensure orderly events.

The one-dish rule will apply to marriage halls, farmhouses, and private event grounds. Officials are tasked with ensuring that only one main dish is served at events. This measure targets extravagance and encourages adherence to government regulations.

District officers will oversee strict implementation of both directives. Events violating loudspeaker limits or the one-dish rule will face legal action. Authorities have been given clear instructions to actively monitor gatherings and enforce penalties.

The move reflects the Punjab government’s broader effort to promote public order, reduce excessive spending at social events, and control noise pollution. Officials say consistent monitoring will ensure compliance across the province.
