Sindh Launches New Phase of Women’s Pink Scooter Scheme

Published on: December 10, 2025 1:37 PM

Pink Scooter Scheme

Sindh has decided to start the second phase of pink scooter distribution for women. The decision came during a meeting chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Wednesday. Officials said the initiative aims to support women who depend on public transport.

During the meeting, the government also approved four new routes of the People’s Bus Service. These routes will operate in Khairpur, Shikarpur and Hyderabad. The plan is expected to improve travel options for thousands of daily commuters.

Earlier in September, Sharjeel Memon called the scheme a major step toward women’s empowerment. He said the pink scooters offer safe and affordable mobility for women. He added that students and working women will benefit the most.

Memon explained that scooters help women save time and travel costs. He noted that the program also ensures a secure travel environment. Applications from eligible women are being processed through the Sindh Mass Transit Authority.

Officials said the scooters will be distributed on merit. They stressed that transparency will be maintained during the allocation process. The provincial government has created a proper system to ensure fairness.

The minister encouraged women across the province to apply for the scheme. He urged students and professionals to use this opportunity for independent mobility. He said mobility plays a key role in women’s progress.

Memon reaffirmed that the government wants women to participate confidently in all sectors. He said the initiative will support their education, employment and daily responsibilities. He added that women’s empowerment remains a core priority for Sindh.
