UAE issues alert as heavy rains lash cities

Published on: December 18, 2025 10:20 PM

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have issued alerts for citizens due to heavy rains affecting daily life. Both light and torrential rainfall have flooded streets, submerged low-lying areas, and caused traffic disruptions across several cities. Emergency services have been put on high alert to assist affected residents.

The UAE’s emirates of Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Dubai have experienced particularly intense rainfall, with some areas seeing overflowing drainage systems and temporary road closures. Public transport and local businesses have also faced disruptions due to waterlogging.

Police have warned residents to exercise caution over the next few days, as storms are expected to continue in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Citizens are advised to avoid coastal, mountainous, and flood-prone areas and stay updated with official weather advisories.

Drivers have been instructed to reduce speed, maintain safe distances, and avoid driving through flooded roads. Authorities emphasized that precautions are critical to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage.
