Bridgerton season 4: Benedict Bridgerton's masquerade romance takes centre stage

The trailer opens on a playful note, with Benedict Bridgerton, portrayed by Luke Thompson, attempting to explain American football before steering the conversation towards grander themes of romance and desire. As ever, the narrative is guided by the familiar voice of Julie Andrews as Lady Whistledown, setting the tone for a season steeped in intrigue and emotional tension.

Benedict finds himself under renewed pressure from his mother, Violet Bridgerton, to settle down and marry. Insisting he is pursuing a “more venturesome course”, he soon discovers that fate has other plans. Those plans arrive in the form of Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha, a young woman living in servitude who dreams of escaping her rigid social position, if only for one unforgettable night.

In a storyline reminiscent of a Regency-era Cinderella, Sophie disguises herself to attend a lavish masquerade ball. There, she and Benedict share an immediate and powerful connection. Benedict describes her as “the most intriguing person I’ve ever met”, but their encounter is fleeting, as Sophie disappears before revealing her true identity.

The trailer hints at Benedict’s growing obsession as he searches for the mysterious woman he cannot forget, while Sophie grapples with the fear that revealing who she really is could cost her everything. Themes of class division, secrecy and yearning take centre stage, echoing the emotional intensity that has defined previous seasons.
