Butt appeared before the sessions court (Central) following the expiry of his interim bail, which had been granted on December 20. However, the proceedings descended into chaos when he was attacked at the Karachi City Courts, leading to scenes of disorder and violence.
According to Butt’s counsel, Mian Ali Ashfaq, the assault was carried out by “some lawyers” in his presence. In a post on social media platform X, Ashfaq said his client was beaten despite repeated requests to stop and sustained injuries during the incident.

He strongly condemned the attack, calling such behaviour “unprofessional” and warning that taking the law into one’s own hands undermines the reputation of the legal community. Ashfaq said incidents like these weaken public confidence in lawyers and have no place in a civilised and educated society.
Videos circulating after the incident showed Butt with a torn shirt as he tried to move through a large crowd that had gathered around him. Another clip showed Butt walking alongside a group of lawyers chanting slogans, including “Karachi Bar Zindabad”.
Among those visible in the footage was Riaz Solangi, the complainant in the case against Butt. In the video, Solangi alleged that Butt had previously used inappropriate language against lawyers in a video. Another individual, appearing to be a lawyer, was heard saying the attack was in response to Butt’s remarks and behaviour towards the legal community.

TikToker Nadeem Mubarak, also known as Nani Wala, was also present at the court during the incident. Both Mubarak and Butt have been facing legal proceedings in multiple cases.
The two social media influencers had returned to Pakistan together on December 10 from London after the Islamabad High Court granted them 10-day protective bail on petitions filed by their relatives.
