Rangpur Riders cruise past Chattogram in BPL clash

Published on: December 30, 2025 3:42 PM

Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf produced a match-winning performance with the ball as Rangpur Riders secured a dominant eight-wicket victory over Chattogram Royals in the fifth match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025–26 on Monday.

After being asked to bat first, Chattogram Royals struggled to build partnerships and were bowled out for a modest 102 in 17.5 overs. Rangpur’s disciplined bowling attack applied constant pressure, preventing the Royals from gaining any sustained momentum throughout the innings.

Opener Mohammad Naim was the lone bright spot for Chattogram, scoring a brisk 39 off just 20 balls. His knock included seven boundaries and a six, providing early intent at the top of the order. Mirza Baig contributed 20 from 24 deliveries, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to cope with Rangpur’s bowling, collapsing cheaply.

Preparation pays off! 💪🏏 Focused training, sharp execution — Rangpur Riders seal a convincing 7-wicket victory 🔥💛

Faheem Ashraf was the standout performer, tearing through the middle and lower order with outstanding figures of 5 for 17 in 3.5 overs. His spell effectively ended Chattogram’s hopes of posting a competitive total. Mustafizur Rahman provided strong support with two wickets, while Nahid Rana, Al Islam and Sufiyan Muqeem claimed one wicket each to ensure the Royals were bundled out well short of par.

In response, Rangpur Riders made light work of the chase. Openers Dawid Malan and Litton Das laid a solid foundation with a fluent 91-run partnership, removing any pressure early in the innings. Litton scored 47 off 31 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes, while Malan anchored the chase with a composed 51 from 48 deliveries.

Although Mukidul Islam briefly raised Chattogram’s hopes with figures of 2 for 5, Rangpur remained firmly in control. Khushdil Shah and Mahmudullah calmly completed the chase, guiding the Riders to victory in 15 overs.
