
Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said she has not spoken to Donald Trump since October 2025. She last talked to him on the day she received the Nobel Peace Prize. The statement came during a Fox News interview on Monday.
Machado said the Norwegian Nobel Committee honored her fight against dictatorship in Venezuela. She is widely seen as former president Nicolas Maduro’s strongest political rival. However, she has been outside Venezuela since last month.

She traveled to Norway to accept the Nobel Peace Prize and has not returned. Machado said she plans to go back to Venezuela as soon as possible. She shared these plans during her television appearance.
The interview followed U.S. strikes on Venezuela and the capture of President Maduro. Machado welcomed the U.S. actions and called them a victory for freedom. She described the move as a step for human dignity.

Meanwhile, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez was sworn in as interim president. However, Venezuela’s leadership future remains unclear after U.S. actions. Trump has said Machado lacks sufficient support inside the country.
