Multan Sultans franchise to be auctioned soon

Published on: January 11, 2026 4:23 PM

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to put the Multan Sultans franchise up for auction, following growing investor interest after the successful sale of two new PSL teams for PSL 11.

Initially, the PCB had planned to manage Multan Sultans itself during PSL 11. However, the record-breaking prices fetched by the Hyderabad and Sialkot franchises encouraged the board to move forward with a formal sale.

Officials said the franchise will be offered through an open bidding process, attracting both local and international investors, while a formal advertisement will be issued after reviewing all legal and regulatory aspects.

The PCB is optimistic that Multan Sultans will command a competitive price, given the league’s increasing popularity and the strong demand shown by investors for the newly added teams in PSL 11.

With the league expanding to eight teams, the addition of Hyderabad and Sialkot has boosted confidence in PSL’s commercial growth, and the upcoming Multan Sultans auction is expected to further strengthen investor engagement.

The PSL 11 players’ draft is scheduled for January 30, and the auction of Multan Sultans is likely to finalize ownership well ahead of the draft, ensuring smooth team management and planning.
