Balochistan to hire 4,000 ad hoc school teachers

Published on: January 12, 2026 12:34 PM

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has announced plans to recruit 4,000 teachers on an ad hoc basis under the province’s Academic Excellence Programme to address a critical shortage of subject specialists in schools. The decision aims to strengthen education in key subjects such as English, Mathematics, and Science.

Balochistan Secretary of Education Asfandyar Khan Kakar said that government schools in the province currently face a shortfall of 70 to 80 percent in these essential subjects. “To bridge this gap, the provincial government has prepared a summary for recruiting 4,000 teachers,” he added, emphasizing that the move would improve the quality of education in public schools.

The new appointments will be made on an ad hoc basis at Grade-17 level. Officials said the programme is designed to ensure that students across Balochistan have access to qualified teachers in critical disciplines.

In recent years, several schools in the province had remained non-functional due to the absence of teachers or closures resulting from staffing shortages. The provincial government has worked to restore these schools, but the shortage of specialized teachers has continued to hamper learning outcomes.

Mr. Kakar highlighted that the Academic Excellence Programme would help not only in filling teaching positions but also in providing students with a stronger academic foundation. “These recruitments are expected to significantly improve classroom learning and student performance across Balochistan,” he said.

The government has urged eligible candidates to apply and participate in the recruitment process promptly to help ensure that the province’s schools are adequately staffed ahead of the new academic term.
