PTI representatives Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Senator Barrister Syed Ali Zafar, along with KP Law Minister Aftab Alam Afridi, did not attend the sitting. The commission is scheduled to reconvene on Thursday to consider the confirmation of 13 additional judges of the Lahore High Court.

In a parallel development, Chief Justice Afridi, in his capacity as president of the advisory board of the Al-Mizan Foundation, presided over a high-level review of ongoing welfare initiatives. Established in 1995, the foundation supports serving and retired judicial officers, court staff and dependants of deceased beneficiaries.

The meeting reviewed governance, financial sustainability and policy alignment of the institution’s welfare mandate, with particular attention to health, education and employee facilitation services. Discussions also covered asset management, contractual and taxation matters to ensure long-term institutional viability.

CJ Afridi commended retired Justice Mushir Alam, who leads the foundation’s administration committee, for strengthening its institutional coherence and governance framework.
