US envoy lauds Sialkot Airport’s private success

SIALKOT: The United States Charge d’Affaires, Natalie Baker, visited Sialkot International Airport (SIAL) to highlight its role in boosting trade and regional development. She received a detailed briefing on Pakistan’s first privately built international airport, noting its transformation from a bold idea into a world-class facility.

Baker toured the airport, observing operational standards, passenger facilities, and ongoing upgrades. She praised the airport’s management, modern infrastructure, and the entrepreneurial vision of Sialkot’s business community. The envoy described SIAL as a prime example of public-private collaboration driving economic growth.

During discussions, Baker emphasized Sialkot’s global reputation for exports, innovation, and entrepreneurship. She highlighted the airport’s potential to strengthen U.S.-Pakistan trade, investment, and people-to-people ties. The visit underscored the importance of thriving regional business hubs in deepening international cooperation.

Chairman Hassan Ali Bhatti welcomed the U.S. envoy, expressing gratitude for her visit. He reiterated SIAL’s commitment to fostering international partnerships, supporting regional development, and continuing its growth trajectory.
