Community members vow to enroll out-of-school children

Published on: January 19, 2026 1:43 AM

A Broad Based Community Meeting (BBCM) was organized by the School Education & Literacy Department in collaboration with UNICEF and the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), in Sujawal district, Taluka Mirpur Bathoro, Muhammad Biatar, said a release issued on Sunday.

The event focused on the theme “Increased Enrollment and Retention of Out-of-School Children and Adolescents Using Community Social Behavior Change Approaches.”

The meeting highlighted community development efforts aimed at improving education and social behavior to boost children’s enrollment and retention. Facilitators engaged community members, discussing strategies to bring out of school children back to education through social-change initiatives supported by NCHD, UNICEF, and Stake holders.

The session saw participation of 44 female and 29 male attendees. It was led by NCHD DO Hamza Lashari, DO PO Karachi Sajjad Ali, DD Sujawal Ghulam Nabi, DD Thatta Muneer Ahmed, AD Karachi Zaheer Abbas, and other officials. The leaders emphasized the critical importance of female literacy for the socio-economic uplift of the village.

Commitments were made by stakeholders to actively monitor student attendance and support school enrollment drives. The strong turnout of female participants led to the formation of a local support group dedicated to advocating for girls’ right to education.
