Turkey may send troops for Gaza peace

Published on: January 23, 2026 5:15 PM

Turkey has signaled its willingness to play an active role in the Gaza peace process, including potentially deploying troops. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Ankara is ready to support the Gaza peace plan and contribute to the proposed International Stabilization Force, emphasizing the country’s commitment to stabilizing and rebuilding the region.

Fidan stated that Turkey will “do everything in our power” to help secure and reconstruct Gaza under an agreed peace framework. Ankara has already joined the Board of Peace and serves on the Gaza Executive Committee. He noted that any troop deployment would depend on coordination and agreement with other participating countries.

The peace plan envisages a multinational mission to secure borders, protect civilians, and support reconstruction in Gaza following the ceasefire. Turkish participation would complement efforts by regional partners such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and others, ensuring a coordinated approach to stability.

Fidan stressed that Turkey is prepared to take meaningful responsibility for Gaza’s security and reconstruction, including providing troops if needed and agreed. His remarks highlight Ankara’s readiness to engage directly in international peace efforts and stabilization initiatives in the region.

He also emphasized the importance of implementing the Board of Peace’s goals in coordination with the United Nations, while continuing humanitarian aid and rebuilding efforts in Gaza. Turkey’s active role aims to ensure lasting peace, security, and infrastructure restoration for the enclave.
